Programme

The DTA program is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge and understanding of interpersonal relationships, group dynamics, and intra-psychic processes in a phased out and structured manner through the transactional analysis lens – critical concepts that help us to appreciate the nuances of human behaviour and how they play out in the organisational, counseling, coaching and educational contexts. What makes the learning process richer is not just the structure of the course but also the wealth of interactions with fellow professionals that add immense value. With this course, practicing managers, organisation development consultants, trainers, teachers, coaches and counselors can expand their professional competencies and portfolio by expanding their professional toolkit.

Training Process

  • A typical day in advanced TA training will include any or all of the following: sharing of personal/professional journey, theory and case presentations, small group discussions, reflective exercises, demonstrations, question and answer sessions, process review, practice sessions and other andragogical processes.
  • Repetition is a characteristic of developmental training. Concepts will be revisited several times to reinforce and assure learning.
  • In between sessions, trainees are encouraged to maintain a reflective journal recording their insights, analyses of situations, questions, challenges, and any significant life experiences where they applied TA.
  • Trainees are also expected to read relevant TA articles and books, and complete tasks/assignments - both written and experiential - assigned after every session. These assignments will be in line with SAATA/ITAA certifications so that successful completion of these assignments could add up to their preparation for these exams.
  • This is an adult learning process. Trainees take responsibility for full attendance, engagement in sessions, personal work as and when necessary, completing assignments as required, reading and preparing for the sessions, maintaining a growth journal, maintaining a log of their work, application, supervision and continued development.

Personal Growth

  • Applying TA in one’s own life for changing unhealthy patterns is inherent and fundamental to TA training. We believe that the person we are is what we bring into all our roles – personal, professional and organisational. Therefore, the focus in the foundation cycle will be on integrating TA into one’s own personal, interpersonal and family/group/team contexts. The practitioner cycle will expand the learning for professional competencies to apply in respective client systems.
  • Trainees are expected to invest substantial amount of time and energy in changing and developing self before they venture into helping others.

Supervision

  • Supervision is a unique, integral, and crucial aspect of TA training.
  • Trainees get to seek clarity, validation, reinforcement, direction, support, and professional development as a practitioner by presenting their learning experiences and client engagement scenarios for supervision.
  • Supervision is a contractual relationship where the supervisor and supervisee engage in a co-creative process of honing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes of the practitioner.
